A little girl

We all know how difficult it is to take a picture of a child.
In the sample below, a little girl on her second birthday, playing with her toys. One snapshot captured her smile, but it was cluttered and out of focus. I used the image to create an "impressionistic", painting like canvas that is now cherished by her parents.

A 1920 portrait

This old monochrome portrait was in an oval frame and showed the signs of paper deterioration.

I cleaned it, removing rips and scratches, restoring it to its original condition. I purposely did not add colour since I believe that artificiality would detract from the "old" photo itself.

Tonquin beach

One day I was walking along the rugged west coast near Tofino and hiked down to Tonquin beach. I was dazzled by the beauty of the site. The weather was not cooperating and far from ideal for taking pictures. Regardless, I took a few. No one seemed to capture the magic of the site. So, I "brought" one of the pictures into my "digital darkroom" and worked with it. The final artistic rendition is very popular and I feel it captures the essence of a West Coast landscape.

I charge $ 50/hr for artistic rendering of your digital image, colour slide or print (scanning included). Minimum of 1 hr.
